Are oak worktops a good idea?

Compared to solid wood worktops, laminate oak worktops have a multitude of benefits to offer.

  • Solid wood worktops need to be regularly treated with oil to prevent water ingress, whilst laminate worktop surfaces are naturally non-porous in nature
  • Laminate wood worktops are a more budget sensitive and can be installed by DIY enthusiasts, meanwhile solid wood worktops require an experienced tradesperson

Can you put hot pans on an oak worktop?

We would not advise putting hot pans on top of laminate worktops. Reason being, they are susceptible to blistering and scarring.

To protect your surfaces, we would always recommend purchasing our self adhesive protector rods, which can be easily removed and applied to any laminate.

How does a rustic oak worktop cope with moisture?

As mentioned above, the laminate surface of our rustic oak worktops is naturally non-porous, however due care must be taken around cut-outs and joins - due to the exposed chipboard core.

We recommend using our silicone sealant or Colorfill colour match sealant.
