Newest kitchen trends 2022

So having previously covered the bathrooms trends of 2022 , it seems only fitting that we let you know what the new year has instore for kitchens.

Having spent more time indoors in recent years the kitchen has once again gained it's popularity as the most important room in your home, providing a place for family time and conversation.

We sit down once more with Rearo's Head of Design, Fiona Kennedy, to ask all of those important questions.

What colours should I choose for my kitchen?

So from the colour palette of 2022, kitchen designers have favoured two colour choices the most - blue and green.

In particular these include olive green, deep forest green and also navy blue.

Use these colours in combination with other textures or lighter finishes to create a two tone modern kitchen space.

Our personal recommendations include Olive Green kitchen cabinetry with our Valley Oak or Rovero Wafer laminate kitchen worktops.

Or alternatively, for navy blue options, our light grey concrete effect Copperfield laminate worktops look great.

What finish should I choose for my kitchen taps?

There is ongoing debate as to whether dark mattes or metallic finishes will dominate the choice for kitchen fittings and fixtures each year, however 2022 is very much about metal options.

This year, expect to see a lot of of gold or copper taps and possibly handles on your wall cabinets.

Beige laminate kitchen worktop

What style of kitchen worktops are in for 2022?

Kitchen worktops are getting thinner and square edge finishes are being favoured over the traditional postformed option.

In regards to finishes, matte is the preference, flat pantone colours and concrete effect worktops are the best choice for your kitchen space.

We would recommend selecting our Grigio Alpaca worktops, white kitchen worktops or Etna Grey concrete worktop.

What look should I choose for my kitchen cabinetry ?

For those looking for ultra modern kitchen design, influenced entirely by the latest trends, you should be considering your storage solutions and looking to lose handles all together, opting instead for a touch option.

Consider building an additional mezzanine layer on top of your existing units for less frequently used items and look for clever storage within what would have previously been an unutilised area - such as end panels. These can quite easily be turned in to wine racks or quirky compartments for your cooking equipment.

Acrylic glass effect kitchen splashback in black kitchen

What splashbacks should I choose for my kitchen wall space?

Contrasting splashbacks are the way to go for 2022, deliberately ensuring that you're worktops do not match and therefore creating a statement.

This could include combining textures with smooth matte, concretes and woods or stone effects with soft blacks or white.

Another option to consider would be acrylic kitchen splashbacks, although glass is the hot topic, our Zenolite range offers 25x the impact resistance.

Again we hope this quick guide provides you with the information you need to get started on your latest kitchen renovation.
