How long does wet wall last?

Subject to correct installation and maintenance, wet wall will typically last up to 15 years.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) as a material has been known to last in excess of 25 years, meaning that the only real need you will have to change you panels is if you would like a new style for your bathroom.

Our top tips to ensure the longevity of your product are:

  • Keep your panel out of direct sunlight to avoid colour fade
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners which are likely to damage the panel surface
  • Always rinse your panels after use and regularly top up your sealant when it becomes worn

Installing copper bathroom panels

Due to their built-in tongue and groove edge, wet wall can be joined with just the use of silicone sealant and adhesive, however for a neater finish on corner areas and exposed edges we would always recommend using panel trims.

Choose from a satin anodised, white powder coated, black powder coated or a luxury polished aluminium effect to achieve your perfect finish.

Examples of using panel trims:

For a 2 panel corner sited shower you will require: 1 Internal Corner and 2 End Cap trims.

For a 3 panel 'U' shaped enclosure you will require: 2 Internal Corners and 2 End Caps.

You may also want to consider using a Cladseal Kit also available in the Accessories section, to seal the bottom joint between panels, bath edges and shower trays. Many fitters prefer to sit the panels onto the shower tray and use silicone to seal, but as it is essential to prevent water ingress behind the shower.

Can wet wall be repaired?

Unfortunately if a PVC wet wall has been damaged through force or heat there is not a way to recover the panel.

However it is very unlikely to be the case due to the honeycomb core structure mentioned above, with high impact resistance.

Only in very rare or unusual circumstances would heat exposure affect wet wall due to its high moisture resistance and ability to cater to humid environments.

Only a naked flame would warp a shower panel.

Further information regarding shower panels

Please Note: The appearance of a scalloped edge at the top and bottom of the any pvc wall panel is not a fault. It is the industry standard finish on any PVC wall or ceiling product.

Please Note: Rearo carry out regular internal quality control checks on all of our wall panel products. From time to time slight shading may be apparent between batches. Therefore we ask that all panels and boxes must be checked for colour match shading differences and batch number variations prior to being fitted. Rearo will not be accountable for any refitting charges if shading is discovered after installation.
