Milan Design Week Trends – Rearo x Gucci?

Milan design week has returned for 2024, hosting design fair Salone del Mobile, exhibitions, installations, talks, pop-ups and workshops from 15 to 21 April.
While our team couldn’t attend Milan Design Week in person, this year, we’re still diligently observing the event, leveraging our expertise to identify emerging interior design trends and colours that will undoubtedly inspire our kitchen and bathroom ranges.

One of the standout exhibits we’ve come across is Gucci’s innovative project, Gucci Design Ancora, at Gucci’s flagship store in via Monte Napoleone in Milan, where the brand showcased five customised icons of Italian design in an immersive exhibition.
This bold creation, a brainchild of creative director Sabato De Sarno, co-curated by Michela Pelizzari and conceived by Spanish architect Guillermo Santomà, features a striking combination of deep red objects set against lime green backdrops. All objects are presented in ‘Rosso Ancora’, the red hue De Sarno chose to mark the beginning of Gucci’s new creative chapter.

Avid followers of the Rearo LinkedIn page, may have noticed our recent delve into the Rearo archives, unearthing old staff and supplier images and revisiting old brochures. In doing so, we couldn’t help but be intrigued by the uncanny resemblance between the Gucci exhibition and our very own Rearo Selkie brochure from 2010.
Our 2010 Selkie range featured ‘Burning Galaxy’ deep sparkly glossy laminate shower panels, and lime green was used throughout the brochure. The colour scheme seems to have transcended time and trends.

In case you are wondering, NO, we don’t recommend rushing out to renovate your kitchen in lime green (unless you really love it, in which case, you do you!) But this striking colour does work for accents.
If you are looking for a more practical colour to update your home or your wardrobe, deep reds and burgundy will be significant in 2024+.

Pair deep reds or burgundy accents with a blush or cream backdrop. Combining two hues in the same colour family minimises the contrast, making your space feel calming and less stimulating. We recommend the Selkie ‘Oatmeal’ bathroom wall panels. It might not have the same drama as the Gucci exhibit, or Rearo’s 2010 brochure, but your eyes will probably thank you.

Embrace the Blue Marble Trend: Elevate Your Bathroom with Rearo’s Selkie ‘Zaffiro’ Shower Panels
Few materials boast the timeless allure and luxurious appeal of marble in interior design. From classic Carrara to the ever-popular Calacatta, this natural stone has long been revered for its elegance and sophistication.
However, as we usher in 2024, a new trend is emerging—the Blue Marble Trend. Rearo is excited to explore this captivating trend and showcase how our Selkie shower panels can elevate your bathroom design.
Marble has always been synonymous with grandeur and refinement. Its veined patterns and polished finish exude a sense of opulence that transcends trends. Yet, as design preferences evolve, so too does the interpretation of this classic material.
While the likes of Carrara and Calacatta will always hold a special place in interior design, the spotlight is now on ‘Niche’ design, encouraging individuals to embrace bold and experimental choices.
Enter The Blue Marble Trend – a delightful departure from convention that allows homeowners to infuse their spaces with vibrant hues and striking patterns. Rearo’s blue marble shower panel, Zaffiro, offers a perfect example of this trend in action.
Crafted to mimic the luxurious look of marble, these panels provide an affordable and easy-to-install alternative that doesn’t compromise on style
Contrary to misconceptions, blue is not limited to cold or masculine aesthetics. Instead, it exudes a hypnotic allure and timeless appeal that effortlessly elevates any space. One of these enduring appeals of blue marble is its association with water, which evokes a sense of calm and tranquillity, making it an ideal choice for bathroom spaces.
The versatility of blue marble shower panels allows for a myriad of design possibilities; for example, pairing them with brass fittings adds warmth and luxury, while coastal-inspired designs incorporate white accents and distressed wood for a relaxed ambience, inspiring you to create a bathroom that reflects your unique style.
Go Bold
For those seeking to make a bold statement, consider embracing the ‘colour-drenching’ movement. Adorne all your walls with blue marble shower panels, Zaffiro, from the Selkie range, and painting your ceiling in the same blue shade.
This dramatic approach instantly transforms the space, leaving a lasting impression on guests and homeowners alike when entering your blue marble bathroom, allowing you to create a bathroom that is truly a work of art.
