Laminate oak worktop vs solid wood worktop
A hefty investment for your kitchen, solid oak kitchen worktops are made from real wood material and cut directly from the tree, meanwhile a laminate oak worktop is created from a chipboard core and then faced with decorative high pressure laminate to give the impression of solid wood.
Although price point isn't just the only benefit of choosing laminate over solid oak worktops.
Laminate is naturally non-porous, meaning that it requires no further maintenance once installed to prevent water ingress. However solid wood worktops require regular oiling to protect the work surface and keep it looking at its best.
As well as this, laminate oak worktops are more lightweight in comparison to solid wood, meaning the installation process is a lot easier. Laminate worktops are more DIY friendly, whilst a solid oak worktop would require an experienced tradesperson to install - again associating additional costs to your kitchen refurbishment.
Can you put hot pans on an oak worktop?
No! We do no encourage you to place hot pans directly on top of your laminate oak worktops, as this will lead to scarring and blistering of your work surface.
If you feel you would be prone to doing so, we encourage you to purchase our worktop self-adhesive protector rods for food preparation areas, to create a barrier between cooking utensils and your work surface.
