How to style white sparkle worktops

White worktops are known for their ability to brighten kitchens and give the impression of space. The addition of glitter however has brought a brand new dimension.

A great substitute to guartz, laminate sparkle effects have a been a staple of kitchen design for over a decade.

The inset glitter flecks within the laminate papers give character and regularly change the appearance of the worktop over the course of the day, with the light reflecting differently from morning to night.

But just how do you style a white sparkle worktop in your home?

Colour pairing with white

White doesn't appear on the colour wheel and instead it's referred to as a tone, ultimately this means that there isn't a colour available that'll look offensive when its placed beside your worktop - what could be better?

You have the opportunity to go back to basics with a neutral colour pairing, to inject character with accent colours or instead opt for a classic monochrome look with black accessories and kitchen fittings.

Or, beyond colour, think metal finishes. Aluminum is a great way of highlighting the glitter within a sparkle worktop and gold or brass is perfect for a contemporary contrast .

Worktop finishes

As well as colour you should consider the finish of your kitchen worktop, this is going to play a vital role in the the look you are trying to achieve.

Contrasting a gloss worktop with matte accessories, and vice versa, has a layering effect and adds dimension to your kitchen.

Meanwhile if you stick to the same finish on both, gloss on gloss has a very pristine and clinical feel, whilst matte on matte is quite muted and understated - sparkling worktops do bring a little life however.

Should kitchen worktops match the floor?

The great thing about styling? It's all down to personal taste and not fashion. Though, there could be some practical reasons behind your flooring choices.

If you plan to go all white on your walls, kitchen cupboards and worktop this will open up your room entirely and give the impression of space.

Meanwhile if you opt for a darker floor to sit alongside your white worktops this will give the impression of height in your kitchen and will create a focal point.

The real question to ask is whether you would like for your floors or worktop to take center stage in your kitchen.
